DONATIONS

Interested in donating an object? We'd love to hear from you.

It is with your help that we will  be able to tell the story of Ballina and it's district; not just from the 1840's when the town was founded but also prior when only Australia's indigenous peoples lived in this beautiful paradise. There are so many stories to tell and pass on to future generations.

What type of objects do we collect?

We collect any object relating to the Ballina area. They may be household items of significance, photos, maps, books etc. Anything you think may be useful. They can be big or small.

Will we take objects on loan?

Generally, we don't accept material for loan unless we are creating a temporary display. Objects will generally need to be donated to the Ballina & District Historical Society collection. If you do wish to donate to the society download the form "Collection offer form" here (pdf) or here (word)

Do we need to know provenance (the place of origin or earliest known history of something)?

Yes. If you do wish to donate an object we will need to know about an object’s provenance  — who made or used the object and who has owned it over the years.  You will be able to provide this information on the "Collection offer form"
